CHARACTER NAME: Veritas Ratio
CHARACTER AGE: Not stated in canon, but he's likely in his thirties.
CANON: Honkai: Star Rail. Wiki Link
CANON POINT: Patch 2.1
CRAU INFO: N/A
SUITABILITY: In terms of physical capability, Ratio is a normal man, albeit with some magic powers. He's at peak physical health and is quite muscular, meaning he does not lack for strength. As a Pathstrider of the Hunt, he has access to abilities that allow him to do high damage to solo enemies, but he's not good at dealing with multiple enemies at once. In a team that covers his weaknesses, he can hold his own.
In terms of monsters he's actually faced, he's likely fought against the Swarm a few times, a faction consisting of giant bugs that replicate themselves endlessly in a bid to propagate themselves across the universe. The bugs can induce hallucinogenic effects and are capable of exploding, making them very dangerous to deal with. However, as a scholar, he doesn't regularly fight, so he is not as adept at it as others might be.
His true strength lies in his intelligence. Using his intellect, he would be able to quickly pinpoint weaknesses in monsters and determine the best way to attack them. He would excel in coming up with battle tactics and assigning roles to team members, and act as the strategist of a party. He would also be able to evaluate his missions on a macro level and decide which objectives would be more valuable for LILITH as a whole (though that actually might be a detriment to LILITH if they want mindless soldiers...), as well as evaluate his teammates' performances and figure out where they need improvement. He highly values efficiency and would work to improve all aspects of the operation as best as he can.
However, what holds the most value for LILITH isn't his combat or strategic prowess, but his knowledge. In a universe where God-acknowledged geniuses exist, he is the closest one can get to that position without being acknowledged by the gods. Despite his youth, he has attained 8 PhDs, the subjects of which aren't specifically given, but he is noted to have outstanding achievements in biology, medicine, natural theology (the study of the effect of gods on the universe), philosophy, mathematics, physics and engineering, so it can be presumed that 7 of those PhDs are for those subjects. The 8th? itisamystery.jpg.
Additionally, it has been specifically noted that he has cured a disease (known as lithogenesis, the king of diseases. No idea what it actually is though), solved an energy crisis for a planet, and has successfully created anti-planetary weapons. He has even designed an anti-planetary weapon that turns a space train into a gundam. I'm not kidding.Dr. Ratio: The Express itself is the weapon.
Dr. Ratio: The Express, a mere assemblage of carriages, becomes a colossal weapon when fitted with lightweight yet resilient materials, all without compromising its internal architecture.
Dr. Ratio: The blueprint delineates the potential for it to morph into a humanoid assault weapon, enabling you to engage in combat without budging an inch.
Suffice to say, he's tailor made to handle planets in an apocalyptic crisis. Given that he works with the IPC, a corporation that does takeovers on planets that can't repay their debt and will renovate its entire ecosystem to make them more useful, he likely has some knowledge on how to fix the environment (though it's not his expertise). Not to mention that he is extremely passionate about helping humanity and would thus dedicate his time and knowledge to assisting LILITH, no matter what he thinks about his kidnapping. He is not the type to let people suffer if it doesn't help them better themselves, and a kaiju apocalypse ain't that.
But I'm aware this is an RP game, and his crazy knowledge/intellect might actually be detrimental to the game itself if he was truly allowed to help LILITH. It shouldn't be too hard to handwave why LILITH won't let him help if that's how the mods want to play it, but in terms of justifying his suitability to LILITH, there should be no question that Ratio is an extremely worthy pick.
PERSONALITY TRAITS:
Positive Traits:Intelligent, rational Earnest in intention Compassionate because he cares for humanity Ambitious about his goal
Negative Traits:Abrasive, condescending and blunt Intolerant of idiocy Self-centered An underhanded schemer if it'll force fools to learn
PERSONALITY REFERENCE: Wiki Link
POWERS & SKILLS:
Pathstrider of the Hunt - He has access to Imaginary Energy and can use it to attack enemies, either by sending the energy at them or creating objects and attacking with that. The objects he can create are limited to: chalk, pillars, and statues of himself. Anything he creates is not permanent; it will vanish within a few seconds. He is also capable of imprisoning enemies with Imaginary Energy, reducing their speed, increasing their susceptibility to ailments and drawing threat with his statues.
Subspace Storage - Ratio is capable of storing items in subspace, like everyone in his canon. Its limitations are unknown, but I will be keeping it reasonable, about 2-3 backpacks worth of space.
NERFED POWERS: I noticed in the FAQ section that Energy Attacks are listed as something that needs to be nerfed. Ratio does have an energy attack, but it's limited to a single target and is nowhere close to game breaking, so I don't think it needs to be nerfed. However, I wanted to mention it and check in with the mods. Here is a gameplay vid of that skill, it's the first thing he does in the vid, called Intellectual Midwifery.
Otherwise, I don't believe he needs any nerfs.
PERSONAL ITEM: Alabaster Head - It's this statue head that he likes to wear over his own head like a mask. There's nothing special about it. He's just fucking weird like that. Look at this man.
ALTERNATE IDENTITY:
Name: Noctua Laurentius | Occupation: Teacher (preferably post-secondary level, but if such institutions don't exist, then high school is acceptable.)
CODE NAME CHOICE:
I'm okay with any kind of code name you guys give him! Jabs, fitting, anything goes! I do think it'd be funny if he received a code name that makes a jab at him though.
For fitting code names, anything that describes his intellect, associations or life philosophy are a good bet: mundanite, erudite, phds/8 phds, intelligentsia or mediocrity are my suggestions, but it doesn't have to be limited to this.
For code names that poke fun at him or are plain silly: unacknowledged, gazeless, genius, IPC's dog (or any variation thereof), and rubber ducky are some ideas.
